The next time you want to snap at someone to drive faster or crank up the heat to a gold-baking point, remember this elderly woman who found so much life and joy in the snow.
A lot of us keep acting as though life is boring with very little thrills. We never feel like we are living until we are spending truckloads of money on short-lived ecstasies. This is why it’s important to have elderly people as friends or to connect more with your grandparents. At that age, they’ve seen life at every stage and they know what truly brings long-lasting joy.
Just like this 105-year-old Mama who can still find joy in almost anything, including snow. In 2015, when Albina was 101 years old, she was being driven through Lillooet, British Columbia by her son, Armand in the heart of winter. Albina made Armand pull over so she could step out and play in the snow.
In the video, the strong woman who could pass off for a 70-year-old could be seen bending over to pick up snow with her hands and making careful molds. The joy on her face was as bright as summer.
Young at heart
The video was first shared on Facebook by her son in 2015. He could be heard saying, “I turned the car around about 3 kilometers from town, but before I could get back on the road, the door flies open and out steps mom. When you have a mother that’s 101 years old, it’s a good thing to keep the camera nearby for those special moments,” Armand said.
He shared the video with the caption: “Here’s proof that if you find pure joy in the simple things you can live a 100 years.”
So far, the video has received over 10 million views, 174K shares and over 50K reactions. What a way for Mama to go viral!

He uploaded the video as a throwback again in 2018. He wrote: “Three years ago today that was mom playing in the snow. Now she’s 104 and doing very well. Can you imagine?”
Mom Albina’s video is a reminder to everybody who lives life to every detail. Mature age comes sneaking in too early and you will most likely be unable to appreciate these things as completely as in the past. Set aside some time to be youthful. Dwel into being youthful and never spare yourself from these opportunities.
Mama Albina recently turned 105 and according to her son, her spirit will forever remain young. “We laugh a lot. It’s a family thing. There’s no sign of mental degeneration. Physical, yes, but this moment is not unique for us. There are more of those and there have been, but this resonated with everyone.”
It sure did, seeing a lovely grandma drawing strength from the snow.
